Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism occurs if a researcher intentionally or unknowingly copies others work or someone copies content without providing the appropriate references.
Plagiarism before publishing SURF-2020 will judge any case of plagiarism on the basis of prescribed limits. If plagiarism is detected by the Conference Organizing Committee, at any stage of article process, before or after acceptance, during editing or at a page proof stage, the said committee will make an attempt to alert the author(s) and might direct them to rewrite the content or to cite the references from where the content has been taken. If more than 20% of the paper is plagiarized- the article may be rejected and the same shall be notified to the author in due course. However, any liabilities arising out of plagiarism is entirely on the research scholar submitting the content and the organisers shall be indemnified of any damages until the stage of Plagiarism screening. It may also be noted that the Organizing Committee will not extend more than one opportunity for check due to the paucity of time.

When is plagiarism check undertaken ?

All the submitted manuscripts for publication are checked for plagiarism after submission and before starting review.

What is the handling policy of SURF-2020 on plagiarism?

The manuscripts or papers in which the plagiarism is detected are handled based on the extent of the plagiarism. If the extent of plagiarism is less than 25%, the manuscript will be sent for review. After the review process, the manuscript is sent to the author for content revision.

Why manuscripts with > 25% plagiarism is rejected?

If the plagiarism level of the revised manuscript is detected more than 20%, it is assumed that the authors are not inclined to address the deficit and hence liable to be rejected. However, authors are welcome to do the required revisions and submit the manuscript as a new submission. Also, the duplicate publication of the author’s own work, in whole or in part without proper citation is not tolerated by the Conference Organizing Committee. It is quite possible that the researcher may not even know that they are plagiarizing. Therefore, manuscripts proposed to be submitted to the conference may be checked for originality using anti-plagiarism software (Turnitin). It is the author(s) sole responsibility is to make certain that they understand the difference between quoting and paraphrasing, as well as the proper way to cite material.

Declaration of Originality

The author(s) has to submit the Copyright Form to the Conference Organizing
Committee. By submitting manuscript to the conference, it is understood that it is an original manuscript and it is an unpublished work and is not under consideration elsewhere.
